Science + Art Fair

The Science + Art Fair provides an opportunity for students to develop and improve their talents and skills through dedication and hard work. We are excited to bring this great opportunity to showcase the amazing talents of our Harrison students in the areas of both art and science. To honor Harrison’s school-wide focus on growth mindset this year, the Science + Art Fair Committee elected to shift to a more feedback-based judging process rather than a ranked rubric with prizes. All students will receive feedback on their work along with the invitation to participate in a special celebration recognizing their choice to participate.

Never participated before? Here’s how it works:

  • Students are asked to submit their ideas via the entry form attached to this letter
  • Students can work independently, or they can choose to pair up within the same grade in groups of two to complete their project
  • Students should review the information packet on how to proceed with their projects with both science and art. The packet is very thorough and will guide you through the steps you should take. The science fair packet is available here and the art fair packet is available here or you can send a request to harrisonelementarypta@gmail.com and we will email you a copy. Students may also request a hard copy from their teacher.

Science fair participants will be supplied with presentation boards to display their findings and art fair participants will be provided with paper stock if they are presenting a 2D project. Please note, art fair projects are due BEFORE the show date, see below.

Tuesday, March 19th – Project Entry forms must be turned in to teachers

Friday, March 22nd – Presentation boards and paper stock available in the main office

Wednesday, April 10th – Art Fair projects due; please ensure your child brings their project to school by this date

Monday, April 15th – Science Fair projects due; please ensure your child brings their project to school on this date. Judging will occur during the school day (parents are welcome to attend). Additionally, all projects will be available for viewing directly following the final PTA meeting that evening (6:00 p.m. / pizza will be available for everyone attending and childcare will be provided).
