On behalf of the Harrison Elementary PTA Board, welcome to a new year at Harrison!

Despite all the changes and modifications to this school year, we are as excited as ever to serve this incredible school community.

In an ordinary year, we would be welcoming you with ice cream at back-to-school night, hosting a neighborhood picnic, and representing Harrison in the Dundee Day parade, but until those events return, our PTA is working hard to find ways for us to stay connected, engaged, and supportive as this school year evolves.

Some of you have already reached out to us to say, “How can I help?” One wonderful thing you can do is become a member of the PTA. Your membership dues help us to offer support to teachers and students throughout the school year through teacher grants, student clubs, classroom parties, fun community-building and fundraising events, and most importantly, your membership gives you the chance to actively participate in your child’s school, meet other Harrison families, and be an advocate for students and teachers alongside others in your school community.

If you’ve got great ideas to share with us during this time of remote learning, or you just want to help, please reach out. If you’re interested in helping Harrison families who need extra support during this challenging time, please contact our school counselor, Mrs. Herzog at danielle.herzog@ops.org.

And if you are new to Harrison this year, WELCOME! We understand that it can feel daunting to make connections at a new school, even in the best of circumstances. And during a school year when feeling connected might be more difficult than usual, our PTA is ready to facilitate creative opportunities for connection and engagement.

Here are three important things we’d like to share:

1. Our website (thanks for stopping in!), is a great place to learn more about the PTA and its role at Harrison. You can also check us out on Facebook (Harrison Elementary PTA). These are great places to stay up-to-date about upcoming events and opportunities.

2. Our membership form is now online! You can access the form through the ‘Get Involved’ link on our website, or through this direct link.Our membership dues remain $15 for families, and $9 for individuals. Please get membership forms submitted by Friday, September 11th. Thanks!

3. We’re working on some important projects right now, like creating options for a new logo and t-shirt design and re-thinking how we can best support Harrison during this time of remote learning. Please bear with us as we get things rolling, and pencil in Monday, September 14th for our first-ever virtual meeting!
